Physicals and paperwork are mandatory before tryouts or practices. Don't wait until school starts.
When does the season start?
Tryouts will take place in October, followed very quickly by the beginning of practice. Games will begin in early November, with breaks for the Thanksgiving and Winter holiday. The regular season wraps up in late January, followed by the district and regional tournaments.
Tryouts will be held October 14-15, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., at the school. Wear black shorts and a white shirt.
Is there more than one team?
We will have full varsity and junior varsity squads. The coach will determine who is on which team following tryouts. It's possible that a player may start on one team and at some point play on the other. That's entirely up to the coach. But at the end of the day, we're all on the same team.
When are practices and games?
This is subject to change — and, again, is up to the coach — but historically the teams practice every weekday, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. or so. Junior varsity games typically start at 5:30 p.m. or so, and varsity games at 7 or 7:30 p.m. Saturday games are infrequent, but they can happen.
We'll have full details about practice and game schedules come the new school year.
None of this is free. Field maintenance and referees are major expenses, plus travel costs for away games. Each player is responsible for Booster Club dues each season, and we expect to do some heavy fundraising this season. (If you know of a business that would like to support the team, please let us know!)
We'll have a season budget and dues information available at our first meeting in the new school year.
That's a lot, we know. But it's also a lot of fun. If you have any additional questions, please email us.
